We need a regular GT's shipping weight for comparison (and who knows how close shipping weight is to actual weight?).

they tend to keep the fuel levels low when shipping, that should be about the only change.

my GT weighed 3666 on the scale with a half tank of gas and me in it. but thats a 4.6, not a 5.0. so i dont know how much that helps.

my 248a didnt come with a power drivers seat.

anyways, cool car. the only way ive seen someone determine if their car was a true GTS was a snop shot of the window sticker on the date-of-purchase.

and i do believe GTSs were made in 1996 as well, but i may be wrong. i went to the mustang source.com and they had a picture of a 1996 GTS in their timeline...

No it was replace by a different option tag it was some combo of letters and numbers. GTS was only '95

well, whatever... i gave my source... take it up with

Shipping weight for my car was 3183 pounds. I got very few options: Pkg 248A (A/C and AM/FM stereo cassette), front floor mats, 3.08 rear (vs. standard 2.73), and rear defroster.

I've posted pics before. This forum no longer allows you to attach pictures, though.

Mine is DFG with black interior. According to the sales literature you could only get tan or grey interior with DFG, but the computer accepted the order. I built a Bullitt without realizing it!

this forum doesnt allow pics? when did that change?

They don't allow attached pictures. You can link all you want.

In 1995, the 248A package gave your car the GTS designation. In the 1996, the GTS insignia was officially dropped and the 248A package stood by itself with no GTS attached. Look at a 1995 GTS window sticker, it tells it all. The code on the ordering sheet was 248A and will be printed in the right side of you window sticker where the options are listed. You can also tell by the interior trim code if your 1995 is a GTS or not. Look at the table below. The GTS has unique trim codes to seperate it from a normal GT.

INTERIOR COLORS/INTERIOR TRIM CODE
Standard Coupe/Conv.
- Cloth
Bright Red = 6F, Black = 6J
Saddle = 6S, Opal Gray = 66
GT Coupe/Conv.
- Cloth
Bright Red = 2F, Black = 2J
Saddle = 2S, Opal Gray = 26
- Leather
Bright Red = 4F, Black = 4J
Saddle = 4S, Opal Gray = 46
GTS Coupe
- Cloth
Bright Red = 6F, Black = 6J
Saddle = 6S, Opal Gray = 66
