Hello again. I decided to do a split port swap on my cracked head 95 since I have to replace the heads anyways. A friend of mine just totaled his 99 and said I could pull anything off I want for $100. Im going to order the heads reconditioned so they come with a warranty and just get the entire intake setup from my friend's car. I know I have to mod the fuel rails (unless there is someone here that makes them) but what I dont know is if I should grab the ecu from the 99 while I can. Ideas?

I can get the ecu and matching maf for free if it's compatible. I need to know by this weekend. If not I will have to spend the extra $230 on a chip

I don't know for sure but I think just use the 95 computer.

I'm running the 4.2 (split port) and using the 94 mustang computer iirc.

on the V8s the electronics are completely different. The pins on the computer went from a big, fat, pin to a tiny, skinny, pin. The male pins would not fit inside the female harness. That's why my power mirrors dont work.....

Yes but you probably got a tune to deal with your other mods. Im trying to get around tuning for now. I've been bumming rides for 2 weeks and its getting old. I might be ordering the heads tomorrow depending on the ebay seller taking my non split ports as a core.

why not use your friends heads?

Why dont you want to get it tuned?

It would cost me an extra 200+ for a chip and mail order tune. MY friend's car had almost 200,000 miles on it when it was totaled and he didn't maintain it very well. I dont want to risk anything with used heads and the split port or single port heads are the same price where I am getting them. $300 for the pair remanufactured and fully assembled. Also Orange, how did you get around the return style fuel rail issue? Did you just modify the rails at the FPR?

iirc I used a van fuel rail and modded it. But that was also because I had to make it fit around the adapter plate for the blower.

I think you're going to have to use the 95 comp. You're going to likely need a tune... I dont think there's any way around it.

I guess I will get a chip with a tune. Any recommendations for what I'm trying to do? Plenty of how to threads for split port swaps but none of them say what they did with the ecu

Has anyone here tried to use a handheld on a 95? Ive read that they had ODBII earlier than the GT but I also read that that the ecu doesn't have enough memory to hold a tune and that's why a chip is needed?

Yes the v6s had odbII before the v8s.
Works fine, I previously used the SCT hand held.

Currently I'm running on a diablo chip though because the tuner I went to used diablo which doesnt support SN95s.
