Im a fan of 3.55 or 3.73 for the streets. Just the right ratio for launching and 5th gear cruising. Ford gears are the most easiest when it comes to swapping. The manufacturing is so close you almost dont have to rearrange shims from the stock setup to set it.
Sounds like the majority of guys are saying 373 gear. I just bought a 96 cobra with 34k original miles. Mostly stock with the exception of flowmasters and cold air intake. Looking to put a few minor mods on it. Lowering kit, maybe a better sounding exhaust (Borla atak) and change the gear. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

On a mostly stock 96-98 4V, the best choice is 4.30s. Don't let anyone talk you out of it.
I rocked those bitches for years til I threw some boost at the car.
