I have been trying to find the answer to my question for quite some time now. The only thing I have yet to do is call MM myself and ask what the differences are. On their site they show that the 99-04 PHB are different than 94-98 but don't specify how. Just wondering if anyone knows how they are different, and if they can be interchanged with little to no modification to work on my 96 Cobra. The car has the stock axle in it, and will be getting MM coilovers, MM lower control arms, and Steeda Uppers. I also have a 01 GT rear with 3.73 gears that will be installed in the future. Im not sure if the PHB's are different because the axles are a bit wider on the 99-04, or if the 99-04 have different mounting points, but if needed I will hold onto the PHB until I swap the rear in also.

I bet that the lower PHB mounting point has a smaller diameter bolt hole. Don't the LCAs have smaller diameter mounting bolts?

I think you have it backwards. I have 2 94-98 axles and a 99-04. The 99-04 is clearly wider and is a popular upgrade for 94-98 guys to fill the rear quarters

The axle shafts are longer on the 99-04 cars. The housings are the same length. Take it from someone who builds rear ends. The lower mounting bolts for the control arms are a different size. That's the reason you have two different versions. You can easily drill out the holes. It's actually more beneficial to run the thicker bolt anyway.

They do but the bar mounts to te shock mounts not the control arms.

The PHB bracket does mount to the rear of the LCA, the shock mount is just relocated to the PHB bracket. Here is a pic of my PHB ...
