Went to turn on my A/C today in 90 degree weather. I had to recharge it at the beginning of last summer, ever since it's been blowing ice cold. Today, warm. Here are my symptoms.
--With Max A/C on, the air is only slightly cooler with the temperature knob on full cool than when it is on full hot.
--With the selector knob in any position other than "OFF", the temperature knob turns with more resistance than usual towards cool, but with less resistance when going towards hot. The cable is not binding as this symptom goes away when the selector knob is in the "OFF" position.
--As you turn the fan down, the resistance differences diminish greatly. In the lowest fan position, the temperature knob almost turns normally.
I tried to turn the temperature door by hand with a pair of channel locks, but it still won't seem to close enough to not let any hot air through the vents. I did recently install a new head unit, but all the vacuum lines look good and nothing else seems to be amiss. I did notice a disconnected plug hanging down directly behind the center stack, near the vacuum diaphram that controls the vent/defrost selection, but I don't see any male plug remotely close for it to connect to. I checked the system and it is charged adequately. What am I missing?
