A/C takes 10 seconds to come on after start-up, what's wrong?

Every time after I start my car and turn the a/c knob on, it takes about 5-10 seconds for the compressor to come on and blow cold air. It takes the same amount of time for it to come on each time but it seems like it's about 10 full seconds. Any idea what could be keeping it from coming on so soon? A relay delay maybe?

when you hit the switch it has to get the ac going, its just a delay period.. mine does the same thing, worry about it if it doesnt blow cold
