The car is just giving me tons of problems. I havent been driving it really since my rear axle bears are going out. So i decided to change the old nasty watery oil. Well 4 days ago i started my car only to find out all the coolant was on my garage floor. I refilled it and i said okay lets see if it comes out again. Well after the oil change today. I started the car and low and behold it comes spewing out from the starter area under the car. There coolant all over my tranny and starter and oil pan.

Im only @ 130 thousand miles and shes throwing problems @ me left and right :crybaby2: I want a low mileage car :sad5: :angry7:

Is there a rubber holes or something on the back of the intake manifold i cant see? If so, where and what side?

Its defiantly not coming from the metal crossover. (

I wanna sell it and get a 94-95 5.0 :icon_rr: Not sure if i want a hardtop or Vert or a 00-04 hardtop GT

Check all hoses behind the Motor, maybe certain hoses are dry rotted and starting to leak, or maybe your intake manifold is not properly seated on the cylinder heads and its leaking behind the motor. Could be endless possibilities but to make sure I would get a nice strong flash light and start looking for leaks.

See the 2 plastic covers (green and yellow) on the firewall on the passenger side, those are the only 2 coolant hoses in the "back"

I checked those two and it seems fine. Something is cracked or the gasket is fugged up. I can drive the car when its cold and it doesnt leak bad. but soon as it gets warmed up.. it starts pouring out.'

I tried removing the intake manifold before and ended up getting it towed to shop :crybaby2: I really wanna learn how to work on my **** mustang myself. It sucks owning a sports car and not being able to fix it when crap breaks.

Glad this is happening during the winter.

I found a nice write to remove it, but i know i will get stuck somewhere like i did last time with a write up- :BangHead: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/785868-99-01-pi-pi-intake-manifold-swap-writeup.html

Take a class at the local community college or vocational school. They are usually at night and maybe 2-3 hours 2-3 nights a week. Its time and money well spent if you want to fix your own car and save lots of money in the long run.

I have seen people post a few times over the years that the intake has cracked in other places besides the crossover. Liquid shoots and runs in strange patterns so you have to pin point the source before you can determine what it is.

Did you change your intake before? Did you secure the hose/tube that runs under the intake? Maybe the connection came loose?

Nope, i never removed the intake manifold before. Got half way there in 5 degrees weather outside and just gave up and had it towed to a shop.

How possible is it for the gasket to go bad thats mating the intake?

Once i get my other car working imma rip the intake off =[ in my garage. Last time i tried i was in a apartments parking lot trying to change it. Now i have my own garage so if i get stuck i can always call someone over and leave it for some odd months during this snow winter.

Anything is possible but you don't see much in the way of gasket leaks on these 4.6's.

Have you over heated the engine at all lately?

I checked it all dry. I can bubbles coming from the last intake manifold screw near the cabin on the passenger side. I tightened and still the same. I can even see green coolant sitting on the edge of the block. So my guess is the gasket is messed up or the manifold is cracked somewhere.

Also, he intake manifold is not level when you look @ the car straight on. Its lower on the passenger side and sits up higher on the driver side. Its been like this for awhile now and i cant remember if this is normal.

I had this same problem just like you. The replacement piece that a got a few years ago would NOT seat correctly on the cylinder heads when the old one cracked in the front behind the alternator. The product was inferior or the mechanic who installed it didn't seat it correctly, or the gaskets weren't right. Could be a combo of things. Now that I am not naive to mustangs like I use to be when I first got it, I have a better understanding of how this car should perform.

So now you know where its leaking, buy a GENIUNE replacement. I made the mistake of not doing this.

when you get the intake off, make sure to check all of the surface areas on the heads where the intake sits. my niece had a 96 vert that had the same issue and turns out that the head on the passengers side was pitted right where the back of the intake sat on the head. do yourself a huge favor and get the Haynes manual like the other guys said, they have them at the parts stores or you may find one a books a million as well.

good luck with it!
