From everything I have read you can just take the spring out and not put one back in it's place. Is that correct?...and if so I would like to here from some people who have done it. Any ill effects and is it worth doing? Yhanks in advance. :thumb:

You have to put one, its something like a piston, when you do a shifkit you change the spring to give firmer shifts.

Not entirely. I mean you can, and it won't adversely effect your trans, but it will adversely effect your shifts. There are some accompanying holes that should be opened up in the separator plate. How you use the car, and what you will put up with from it determines exactly how you modify the valvebody.

To get you started, go to TCOA and look under their tech articles for the "jmod" it should get you plenty of info to get you started. Or feel free to ask me any questions you might have.

That is what I read. I just wasn't sure if you could remove it without doing everything else. I allready have the pan off because I'm replacing the filter befor I replace the tranny.

Sorry man, I've been at work, and out testing. You can, but you'll just get quicker shift's with no extra holding capacity or pressure. You'll be able to bark the tires, probably, but it won't hold the gear for as long, so you'll need a tune to compensate.

I've pretty much laid out your options via pm anyway, so thanks for the consideration :thumb:

Actually that is what I'm looking for....to bark the tires if I want. I don't race the car and as much as I wan't to take it to the drag strip in reality it will probably never happen. When you say it won't hold the gear as long do you meam it will shift sooner when left in Drive. Would it be worth doing until I can get a valve body from you or get my car down to youI have the pan off wright now to replace the filter befor I install the tranny next week. I figured I would pull it while I'm in there but if you don't think it is a good idea then I won't.

Since you have it down, try pulling just the bottom spring out of the accumulator, don't remove them both. That should firm up the 1-2 shift. Pay attention for any marks in the bore, and scuff them out with red scotch bright if needed.

To pull the accumulator, use your floor jack, and a 1/2 extension with a spark plug socket on it to press it up into the bore, so you can remove the c-clip. Be really careful, don't put your face up against it or anything while you are doing this, it can and will fly out of there.
