Picked up a 33 Gallon 1.6HP Craftsman air compressor yesterday on clearance but am undecided on which air hose I should get for it. I want something flexable and durable. Ive been reading reviews on different hoses and this is what I have narrowed it down to. Does anyone use these or what would you suggest? I'm mostly using a 1/2 impact gun, 3/8 ratchet, Grinder, and other small items.

First I was going to get this but the reviews on it are not so good.

This one is a little more expensive but the reviews on it are much better

And I was also considering this one b/c Ive heard that good year air hoses are really nice.

DO NOT get the red hose, you will constantly be fighting with it. At first that's what I got and after trying to use it a few times i was like F this, returned it for the much more flexible black hose and it's 100x better. I can't comment on the Goodyear hose but I'm very happy with the black hose I got from Sears.

hmmm I'm honestly not sure, I believe I got the 3/8 but it's been a few years since I bought it. $40 sounds right though for what I remember spending on the hose. When I go out later I'll check out the hose and see if it says anything on it.

get the 3/8, 1/2" is too big for what your going to be doing. you will have too great of a volume and lose pressure.

speaking of sweet deal I got the 33 gallon compressor for $159. It was $246 on clearance and I had a $100 gift card. I was going to get the 20 gallon and it would have cost me $179 out of pocket w/ the gift card but I saw the 33 gallon on clearance and as the saying goes......... Bigger is better :)

That's a great deal on the compressor! Gotta love the air tools. Personally, I like a 25' 3/8" hose with a coily hose on the business end. BTW, check your tool adaptors to get the right female parts...

Tank size doesn't mean much, it's motor size and CFM that you should be paying attention to. While I'm sure it will run your impact/ratchet just fine, you won't do much constant grinding with it. Die grinders and their ilk chew up a lot of air volume, and I'm sure that compressor isn't designed to be a "constant run" pump or motor.

FWIW, I have a cheap harbor freight reel attached to my wall that I re-hosed with just standard 1/2" Goodyear hose. It works like champ in front of a rather serious compressor.

I will agree with that, when I was using an angle grinder to clean some stuff for painting the compressor pretty much ran non stop until i was done using the grinder.

Yeah I planned on getting the 50' hose. Paul about the only time I plan on using the grinder/cut off wheel is when I cut my subframe connectors off. Other then that its pretty much just going to be used for the ratchet and impact gun. But when faced w/ getting a bigger air compressor for less money it was a not a tough choice

I have the same craftsman compressor you got and it does suck on the angle grinder. For the the ratchet and impact it does very well though. I don't know what kind of air ratchet you have or are going to get but I'd advice you stay away from the craftsman, I bought the cheapest one they had, broke it, exchanged it for the next level up, broke that one, and when the third one broke I just returned it and got a Snap On one. My $20 craftsman impact although missing the trigger button does the job and hasn't given me the least of trouble.

On my ratchets the buttons under the lever would get stuck, or the ratchet itself would get stuck and just blow air until I spun it a little by hand.

I have a craftsman professional ratchet and an Ingersoll Rand impact, don't use the ratchet much but no problems with either so far.
