Justin you should have just upgraded your old blower and downsized your pulley .. You would have made more power and less problems .. But then again the turbo setup is sweet for sure I just thought it would have been way easier and more reliable ..
lol, my blower was a fresh SI...I could have went with a larger blower I guess but I doubt there would be more power and less problems. I already had a lot of issues ripping belts with the SI, I cant imagine how many belts it would rip if I ran a big ass blower on it.
As far as power, turbo setups typically make so much more power than blower setups. Its hard to say what it would have made with the SI but I assume I would have ended up like Mike, probably end up maxing out the blower and making around 500 rwhp.....I guess ill have to see what the car does with the turbo here when I turn the boost up but I would think at the very least it will make around 500 rwhp.
If I actually had proper turbo cams in it it could make well over 600 rwhp through the auto with no issues I bet....I mean even now, I can easily throw some race gas in it and turn the boost up over 20 PSI and make huge power.
Turbo is the way to go for big power...just doesnt help that I have the worst cams possible....but it still made 420 rwhp on only 9 psi, my vortech hit 15 psi and made 440 before it blew.
Theres a stock HCI turbo 4.6 2v car over at modularfords that makes 530 rwhp and 630 tq with a peak 10.6 PSI just for comparison.
I didnt have many problems, once I got the v band leaks fixed up it was good.
Ive always wanted to go turbo anyway
