Another tire thread question...

So, I made a thread about a week ago just talking about what drag radials i should go with. I always hear that the MT ET streets are the best out there, but have always been told that they dont make them for a 18" rim. Well i was talking to my friend who is also building up a mustang and he asked me why i wasn't going with ET streets. I explained to him that i had an 18" rim and he said look at this link:

Its a 305/35/18....which is the same size i was going to go with the Nitto 555R's. Just wondering what your guys feedback is...thanks! these will be going on 18x9 rims...

those things look SICK! i have also heard that MT ET streets get decent wet traction as well,
which my BFGoodrichs lack in.... just a little more $$ than the 315/30/18 BFG ($275 each)
but not bad at all....

yeah they look like theyd hook really well. I talked to some guys on another forum and they said that its the stickiest radial money can buy.

M/T came out with the 18 inch sizes last year. Although they werent readily available last year, but seems like this year most major warehouses are being stocked with them now.

From what Ive experienced, the rubber on the M/T is among the softest of the drag radials which means a short tread life on the street.
Nitto's seem to last longer than the rest of them (BFG, M/T, Hoosier)

yeah i understand the tread life wont be that great...but what im looking for is traction. i had a friend with the 555rs on a 280rwhp mustang and he wasnt even hooking until 2nd - 3rd gear, that just seems like a waste to me

what was the tire pressure set at? and was there some heat in the tires?

^ that plays a big role in hooking up as well...

i have no idea what it was set at but he was running the 315s and heat them up for a good 15-20 seconds...ive heard many say that the nittos are the least sticky out of Nitto, BFG, and MT but last the longest. its just what you want to sacrafice i guess.

Ive had the Nitto's and I currently have the MT ET Streets. I ran the Nittos as a street and strip tire. Were good on the street and sucked on the track. The compound is not soft at all. I could go up to other cars at the track after they made a pass on MT ET streets and push my finger in the tread they were so soft and sticky. Nittos are not like that at all. I was running the Nitto's at about 16-18PSI and could never get below a 2.1 w/ my current Mustang. I got them down to a 1.9 on my previous mustang but thats it. The MT ET streets are awesome I just them just for the track. I run a 275 on a 15X8 rim. I run them about 14PSI. Ive made only 2 passes w/ them at the track due to it being late in the track season but out of the two runs I cut a 1.848 and a 1.808 60' time

In order of stickyness it goes to MT ET, BFG then Nitto. They last the longest b/c they are the least sticky. MT ET streets have me sold, Im not going with anything else. Be careful though, that much grip could snap some stock axles if you dump them hard at the track
