Any Audi owners here? Specifically S6/S7

Update: found a '14 S7 in my price range down in Atlanta, went and got it yesterday. 108k miles, one owner with a clean car fax. It's got a couple of minor things going on and needs tires, but otherwise in good shape. I think it's a Premier as it has heated/cooled/massaging seats.

Car drives amazing. Probably the most "planted" feeling car I've ever driven, and I'm just driving around in comfort mode. It'll scoot too - that AWD just grips and goes. I haven't pushed it really hard on the current tires but it'll move. Also, what I found interesting was that even though it's 10 years old with 100k miles, there are no creaks/squeaks/groans at all. It's as solid as many new cars I've been in. It's filthy, once I detail it this weekend I'll grab some pics.

I have a 2002 a4 (b6) 3.slow quattro with 6MT.
260k miles...

Anything with the 3.0T and second gen DSG auto should be fine.

Iirc the 2013+ S4, S6? and A6.

Not sure about the others mentioned.

Just get a laptop and RossTech VCDS software with adapter cable and you should be fine.

if you start working on that car you will understand why it makes no noise. Audi/bmw/mercedes puts everything together so much tighter than other companies. I can remember the first bmw I worked on I was trying to pull off interior panels that I thought would just pop off but they seemed to be tight enough to make you wonder if there was a screw hidden so I asked the other installer what the deal was. He reached down, got a REALLY tight grip on the panel and then gave it a hard enough yank that if it were a 20lb weight he could have thrown it a fair distance.

You can just use it to keep your mechanic honest...or rather check for honesty.

Just don't tell them that you have it.

Good for you. S6 or S7 is the way to go for Sedans. Told you they are awesome to drive when they're right. I'm still looking lol.

nobody wants to work on their audi/german car but also no one wants to pay what a quality german-oriented mechanic charges. The good ones are not cheap and the cheap ones are not good.... Nice car for sure.

The audi can be easy to work on. You just have to get familiar with them.

My B6 can have the whole nose removed in 30 minutes. The engine is completely accessible.

You can sit on a plastic bucket and do the timing belt without having to bend over the hood and mess up your back.

You do end up buying a lot of tools for tight spaces.

But that 4.0TT looks pretty tight.

Excuse the coats and such in the backseat. This was the first detail I gave it. It has since been clayed,
de-ironed, and polished. Paint is in really good shape to be 10 years old...it has some typical used-car
scratches but nothing major. Also put new tires (Falken) on it as the Pirelli that were on there had two that were
somewhat questionable - one had a sidewall cut and another had an impact bulge. PO was not very good in
parking lots apparently....all the wheels have significant rash. At some point I'll get new wheels for it.

Need to diagnose an issue with the adaptive cruise (hence no CC) and a sporadic CEL for an O2 sensor. I only get
the CEL after extended "spritited" driving. There is a TSB for the issue so it likely just needs replacing. Not
sure I want to tackle that, haven't made up my mind. Two of them are accessible and the other two are "kind of"
accessible.

Thanks guys! I'm really enjoying it so far. It's worth mentioning that it gets a lot of compliments - probably more than the Mustang did. People are blown away when I tell them it's a 2014.

I’m at 143k miles on my S5. Love it. But yeah, find a good local Audi/VW/Porsche independent shop. Still to maintenance like clockwork. And be prepared for $1k+ bills any time something goes wrong.

What's crazy is that I'm getting 26+ MPG on my commute. And I don't drive it "easy" by any means.

I did pop a CEL for an O2 sensor. Debating on whether or not I want to tackle that.

I would consider that good mileage for its size/weight/power. I mean I am happy to get 30 out of my impreza but we are not talking an apples to apples comparison there by any means.

Indeed - it's a big, heavy car (I think it comes in around 4500 pounds or so). I could probably get 28 out of it if I tried - but that's no fun!

Update since it's been a while:
I was able to squeeze 28.5MPG on the drive in to work one morning, typically averaging 26-27 driving normal. Still haven't tackled the O2 sensor, I just keep resetting it with VCDS.

I did the first oil change a few weeks ago...that was an adventure as the drain plug was stripped. It's a 5 or 6mm (maybe 8mm?) Allen head and it was nice and rounded out. Took some doing to get it out. Also, 9 quarts of full synthetic with filter. Pricey bitch!

I was able to pull the service history from the Audi website, really cool. It was dealer serviced for it's whole life by the PO before me, all the recommended services were done. I just had the DSG fluid/filters changed (due every 40k) by a local shop that specializes in German autos up the road from me. $600, but the materials were over $200 for me to do it. I figure that was worth $400 for me not to have to crawl around on the garage floor. Service is key to longevity for the DSG.

I was prepared for high maintenance costs, and lots of them and just this week got a reminder of that. One of the front air struts failed, that's going to be $2200 repair from the shop up the road. I replaced one of the rears a couple weeks ago. I thought about tackling the front, but after watching a couple of videos decided against it. There's a pinch bolt where the two upper control arms mount to, and it can be a bear. If the other fails I may attempt it. The shop noted the UCA bushings were quite worn and would need replacement soon. I may tackle that but that pinch bolt scares me.
