Basically. They don't want you touching anything. With that Audi you couldn't even reset the service reminder without VCDS.

My son has the VCDS cable. He owns 3 VW models and does almost all his own maintenance. His GTI is built and around 600HP, too much for me lol. I'm still looking for an S4 that's not overpriced. My Q7 was totaled by some idiot right in front of my house, side swiped and took out the whole driver's side, and they kept going.

VCDS is a MUST if you work on your own stuff.

Turns out, my "next" project was replacing the water pump. Car was parked for a couple of months while I saved up the money for that one.
Wife is running the car on the short trips to make sure I have everything buttoned up like its supposed to be. I did a bad job of putting a PCV line back on. It blew off twice. Once on each end.... turbo life, right?
