Hey fella's i picked up a 351W yesterday, along with a Tranny... SUPPOSEDLY the engine was a mid 80's, BUT that means it would be a solid lifter engine, HOWEVER, upon dissasembly it has solid rockers meaning no adjustment, which to ME means it's a hydraulic lifter... I'll be pulling a lifter today to see, but assuming it is hydraulic, how can i find out what year block? is there a casting number somewhere? something i can look for? if so, where and how do i decipher it?

Also, the Engine had a tranny attatched to it. I was told it was a C4, but, like i said above i was also told the block was a solid lifter mid 80's... The tranny has been rebuilt recently, the seals are still fresh, and look great, it has the flywheel and converter as well, along with the dipstick. I want to sell it, because i'm hooking up my T5 to it(already got that flywheel taken care of) so i wanna get rid of it, but i can't post it on Craigslist without knowing what i'm selling... I mean, i can, but i won't get much for it, because nobody will know what it is. LOL... So can you guys help me out? I can post the numbers i got off the tranny when i get home, but that won't be for another few hours... same with the Engine, i can post what i HAVE seen... so if anyone can help me out, that would be awesome....

Sorry, you're too far away. Otherwise I'd help out. I have a blast cabinet and powdercoating stuff so I could make that motor shine! :hammer:

I can use my buddies to do my sand blasting(the navy is good for some things) and i have a hookup down here with a great powdercoater. it's not as cheap as doing it myself, but Marks the next best thing. as for building... I can build it. I just don't know the difference from flat tappet, to roller to hydraulic. LOL
