I've never used anything like a porter cable or anything close to it. I just did everything by hand. Well here soon i plan on buying a polisher, like a porter cable. But I work at autozone and we have a great neck polisher/sander that looks similar to the porter cable and has a 1,000 rpm to 3,000 rpm range and is adjustable. Would this be suitable to get swirls out, and do all the things a porter cable can do? If so I will buy that but if it is that much worse than the porter cable I will just save up and hopefully buy the porter cable package from obsessive.

thanks.

I'm not familiar with the one from Autozone. It sounds like it is a circular polisher if it has rpms A circular polisher creates a lot of heat and can damage your paint really quick if you aren't careful.

well it looks similar to the porter cable, just doesnt go up to 5,000-6,000 rpm's like the pc does. I'm still debating on whether im going to buy it or not. if not ill buy the kit from you.

The Porter Cable is actually 2500-6000 OPM. Do you have a link to the machine you are talking about?

Thats a rotary polisher...

Way more powerful than a PC, BUT you have to know how to use it in order to not burn paint.

I have a similar one from Harbor Freight... Its a great investment IMO.

Just practice on some scrap cars before you take it to the paint of your mustang...

The best thing about a porter cable is that it is a RANDOM orbital buffer... So it doesn't spin in a circular motion and thus, helps greatly prevent burning the paint up..

Edit: I have a PC, and I LOVE it....

I think I scared the OP away from a rotary in my previous post...

A rotary is a much more powerful tool when it comes to correcting your paint...
More powerful than a PC for sure!
I think you should buy a rotary and with a little practice you can easily cut your correction/polishing time in more than half....

Don't be afraid of the rotary, just take care in using it and after a while you'll be very very good with it...

well i just dont want to mess my paint up and i want something that wont take practice to get good with. I used to have a pc a while back and it was very user friendly, i thought that that one would be similar but apparently not

That is a rotary for sure. I would invest in the PC, it is totally worth the money, you can be a beginner and get excellent results without having to worry about hurting your paint.

ya as a body man if you never used one then dont use one on your ride... Its not hard but there right you have to keep it moving or you will heat the paint up and the panel and youll do alot more damage then you ever expected and on top of that you need to be carefull with edges one wrong move or catch a edge with it your straight to metal that quick so stick with what you know.. and when you get time find a old hood or door or car and use the rotary when you dont have to worry about messing yours or someone elses paint job..
