Decided on a set of Yokohama Advan S.4 tires for the Stang...with temps right around freezing mid-morning, the Coopers the car came with were pretty damn hard so I'm running out of time to pick up a set of all seasons...but if I can get a sweet black Friday deal I'll hold off, since Discount Tire wants $791 out the door for a set, but that doesn't include an alignment so tack on another $60-$80. Or on that note, if you know anywhere that's having any decent sale/coupon code, I'd love to hear that too. I know NTB had a buy 2 get 2 a month or so ago but it was actually a buy 2 + all the extra garbage for four tires and get 2 'free' which ended up being the same price as a regular buy 4 get nothing.

Damn tires are expensive:(

Try having to buy tires for the Stang, Speed6, and motorcycle. I hate that all of them hit at the same time.

$$$$ Right there

What size are you trying to get? Watch DT for Clearance section also.

Called TireRack and it turns out they got those Advan S.4s just in September, but they have 2006 dates on them, so it's indeed Yokohama who is shelling out the old tires, not TireRack trying to clear old-ass stock before ordering up fresh ones, so I guess I can forget about those which sucks since the Advan line is their top line.

BUT, I went to Discount Tire's site and by chance saw an ad for new Yokohama YK580s which look really nice and it says they are a DT exclusive (didn't find them on TireRack). Went to take a look, turns out they are a brand new all season tire that just came out a couple months ago, and they have a 580 treadwear which should last a long ass time. Trying to find reviews on them, but can't find much...I may have to be the guinea pig for these, they are less than $170 each which is just a hair more than the S.4 tires. Just gotta get the balls to make an appointment to part with almost $900...

Discount tire in my area(only place I go), will compete with Tire Rack...I'd try that. Get a price from Tire Rack, and take it to your local Discount Tire shop. I did that with the new skins that went on the newest car...'98 V6 Mustang...I got a price from Tire Rack, went to Discount, and they not only beat it, but gave me an extra $5 off each tire, then, they gave me 4 for the price of 3 road hazard warranty's....I love Discount Tire.

Being that I work at Discount Tire, I can tell you that most any Discount Tire that you go to will beat any price that you bring to them. And also OP if your looking at the yk580's they are a very good tire, we have been selling a lot of them lately, one of the guys that works at my store has them on his subie and is extremely pleased with them.

1) Are you having any kind of black Friday deals on them?

2) What are your current coupons/specials/discounts?

Well I bit the bullet and got them put on today. The manager who checked me in was a bit of a dbag IMO, he wrote up the work order and failed to mention that the $20 a piece tire replacement certificates were optional which would've screwed quite a few people who didn't look online first, then hassled me about it until I finally said if I had shitty rubber band tires on 20 inch rims maybe I would but I'm fine and don't need them. Then he lied to me and told me that no matter the rim size the sidewall height is the same and that's when I called him on his bullshit and said the overall diameter is the same, not the sidewall height. Give me some credit, I'm a guy in a Mustang, not a broad in a minivan ffs.

Then they installed one tire inside out so I ha to have them fix that.

The tires are nice so far, really quiet and surprisingly alot smoother than the Coopers they replaced. They are decent looking but not quite as aggressive looking in person as I'd hoped but that's not too big a deal.

Odd thing about these tires is that although they are asymmetrical, they have specific inside and outside sides, so when properly mounted the left an right side tires spin in opposite directions...I always thought asymmetrical tires just had a rotation direction on them, not a set inside or outside side for this reason...kind of odd to me.

EDIT: softcore tire porn...nothin' too fat or flashy but not a bad lookin' tire for a year-round stocker:
