Anyone paint thier stock valvecovers?

Dalamar's came out really nice when he did his...pics in his build thread. Only problem is they will chip eventually. I have been seeing more used aluminum covers cheap. Seen a set of Team Breed/VT's for like @$100 a week ago on corral or modularfords. I have a set of those in my garage i'm gonna get powder coated with my timing cover.

Nice, Im just looking to add some "flavor" cheap....

Ill probably polish my timing cover up and spray the valve covers
trying to clean up the engine bay a little.

so long as you scuff and/or prime them, and use high heat tolerant paint, I don't see why they would start to chip unless you hit them with something or nicked (sp?) them somehow...

I had a paint shop paint mine... It lasted till I put the CC back on the car and the driver side chipped maneuvering it around the back. Then there was the little fuel rail thing. My fuel rail popped an oring and got fuel over everything. The paint lifted like a Japanese sluts skirt.

I just ordered Team Breed CC's and they should be here in a few days. The cast finish of them will eventually absorb oil and start to look stained so the best bet would be to PC them or polish them and keep up on it. <--hard part.

Remember, polishing your timing cover is only going to look nice if you can maintain it. I'd give it 6 months in a DD and it'll dingy and gross again. Best case scenario, you have it powder coated silver so it's easy to maintain. And if you're thinking to polish it and have it PC'd with clear, I have yet to see a clear coat PC not yellow after a few months.

I painted mine flat black with some adhesion promoter and about 6 coats of paint. They turned out great but havent been on a working engine. It was an easy process.

That is true...Maybe ill spray some clear to try and keep it looking clean
