So I just finished wiring up my Autometer electric speedometer and tachometer. I calibrated the speedometer just as it says. But the mph is incorrect and twitchy, however the tripometer is correct i THINK. As for the tach, it sits at zero almost the whole time. I noticed when I was at WOT it went up to around 4000. but its also twitchy and incorrect.... Any thoughts????

check your grounds i would say.

Thats what I thought... But this is how I have everything wired:

I have a barrier strip

On one side of it, I have the 12v wires from the fuel level gauge, speedometer, tachometer, and voltmeter.

On the other side I have the 12v Lighting wires from all the gauges (the above gauges plus vacuum gauge, oil pressure, and water temp)

I have a metal strip

Broken in half so instead of all 8 wires working together, I have 2 sets of 4.

I ran a wire on the 12v side to a hot/run fuse (30amp).
I ran a wire on the 12v side and spliced it into the headlight switch so the lights turn on when the headlights are on.
I ran ALL the grounds into one (could this be the reason?...)

The water temp, oil pressure, vacuum, voltmeter, fuel level gauges all operate correctly and are accurate.
Water temp averages at 210 degrees.
Vacuum is around 20 at idle.
Oil pressure is around 30psi at idle.
Voltmeter is around 15-16volts.
Fuel level seems to be accurate.

I have the speedometer signal spliced into the factory harness; The gray/black wire

I have the tach signal wired from the tach to the neg wire of the coil.

Thats about all I believe... Any thoughts?

Not yet. I'm going to take them out and make sure no wires are touching or anything.

Oh and get this, I filled up my tank yesterday. I drove around for a bit last night and today (odometer says about 60 miles) and my fuel gauge says Im down to half a tank... wtf?
