So the past couple of days my 94 has been giving me some shit when starting it up cold. after sitting the night it starts up fine then the rpms will drop to about 600? shoot back up to like 2k then idle normal. so once its done doing that i take off normal in first and it kinda bogs and pops in first then after i shift into second its fine. it does this for about 4 minutes or so or until the engine is warmed up. my buddy had a 94 gt as well and he said his did the same thing starting up cold. anything to fix this??

Did you have to replace the o2's or did you just clean them? and what did you use to clean the IAC? brake clean or carb clean?

Hmmmmmm clean your sensors, hows your EGR looking? my EGR was bad and my car would act funny until it warmed up. any CEL lights?

Idel Air Control valve/sensor is more than likely your cupriate.

If that checks out, then it could be a faulty spark plug, wire, or distributer (one of the prongs may be going out).

But as stated, I'd start with the IAC which is world famous for causing idel issues on 5.0 Mustangs.

well i'm gonna have a lot of time to start cleanign up the maf and the iac because my tranny started to go out sunday. =[ after 3rd started grinding when putting it in gear, i pulled it yesterday, stated taking it apart and sure enough, 3rd gear was beat to shit. took it to a local place today to get it redone, gears replaced, synchro's replaced as needed and hopefully will have it back soon! but on a side note, got time to take my calipers off and repaint them!

IAC wouldn't cause backfiring just the idle issues.

Scan KOEO KOER codes. It will probably point in the right direction

well didn't fix things for a while and dealt with it until today. Cleaned the maf today and noticed an obvious improvement! Easily chirped them through third whereas before it was tough to do in second. Hopefully that fixed it but we'll find out tomorrow morning!
