Maybe its DS related... it might be tight, but perhaps one of the U joints are bad. As a quick fix, I'd try and pull the DS again, swap in some fresh U joints, and get it balanced just to be sure. After that focus on getting the rear end looked at and most likely fully rebuilt. Axles, bearings, T-lok rebuild...the whole smash.

I swapped the driveshaft with a friends DS same issue same RPM. It couldn't be clutch or transrelated could it. I did notice a bit of wear on the DS yoke, on the part that goes into the transmission is that mean I have a bad tailshaft bushing?

I think I found the problem. I pulled the trans today to do the clutch and I found this.

Looks fine right???

The bearing retainer sleeve was stuck to the throwout bearing when I pulled the trans.

Took the Cobra out after doing the new clutch and bearing retainer, and boom the vibration is back! I am thinking its wheel bearings, what do you guys think.

Rear end is where I'd look first. If the car is a keeper, just go ahead and get a new diff, full set of bearings and a set of axles... thats just good maintenance and its probably worn out anyway.

Yeah she is a keeper had her 14 years now lol. I may do the bearings here pretty soon.

worn bushings

or that piece that driveshaft sits in is worn out?
The Tailshaft bushing? That's a thought.

Yep, that.

Or the rear control arm bushings,

Both of these things were suggested for my vibrations.

I had this same thing. 55+ mph i felt a little vibration and when i let go of the gas or put the clutch in it did it worse. I always thought it was my old front tires till someone told me it could be my drive shaft so i took it in just a few days ago and the mechanic said it is my rear end/diff.

Time for a new diff, rear axles and a installation kit with new barrings.

Ill let ya know in a few months if it fixed it.

Let me know about your cobra.

why do you need new axles unless they are bent? If your going for a bearing rebuild get the kit from American Muscle. I just had my rear end rebuilt at ford with all new bearings and I used that kit. Its not to expensive and comes with Timken bearings which is what Ford uses anyway. My rebuild was $440 with bringing in the rear end on a pallet.

Just to clarify what I was saying.... When I said "new diff" I'm not talking about buying a whole other rear end housing and putting new guts in it. I'm just talking about replacing the differential unit itself so you can get new side and spider gears (which are probably the source of your vibes and noises), swapping your gears over (or a new set if you dont have gears already) and putting new bearings inside.
And the setup I did with my vert was I got a new 05 and up diff unit (they are 31 spline), picked up a local brand of hardened axles (but if its easier for you to just order go on Jegs or Summit and get a set of Mosers or Superiors you can do that too), and then replaced all bearings. Its not the cheapest way to go, but if its done by a knowledgeable wrench, you wont have to think about anything back there anymore.
