Ok, in my 95 GT when I put a battery in it and let the car sit for a few days it drains it and when I go to charge it, it won't hold a charge and every time I bring it to get checked they tell me the cell(s) are destroyed. Lucky me for getting a Wally World battery and returning it whenever I want. However I'd rather just have the battery live.

*NOTE* I have got 3 NEW batteries which all have died.

I do have a full audio set up, so after the first time I just disconnected the main power wire to the amps. Battery still died. I am at a loss of what keeps killing the batteries when the car just sits.

are you leaving a cell phone or mp3 charger plugged in?

If not then you need to to a current test on the system with an amp meter. Disconnect one side of the battery and then connect the amp meter in series with the battery and the wire you disconnected. Now see how many amps it reads with the key off, shouldn't be near 1 amp total. If it is, then start pulling fuses one at a time until you see the current drop. When this happens you have now isolated the circuit that has the current drain and you can then troubleshoot further.

I did this last year and discovered that I had a pressure switch on the ac system that was stuck on and it would keep the ac clutch energized with the key off. When I pulled the fuse I heard it click-off and was able to figure it out then. This created a 3A draw which over a period of 2-3 days would kill the battery.

ditto
find out what is causing the drain.
you can do it with a volt meter too (if you don't have an amp meter) by connecting the meter to the pos and neg batt posts and watching the voltage drop then as stated start pulling fuses till the drop stops or slows

Right on, I can get my hands on a volt meter. But no, nothing is plugged in. But thanks, could do this in about 10 mins. Just gotta get a working battery... Thank you.

I had the same problem in my ol' monte. then I just put in an optima red top and power capacitor and it never happened again since i owned the car. guy at autozone told me that the optimas have like a gel in them instead of the electrolyte that always freezes, plus theres no plates in an optima unlike them regular old neverstarts from walmart.....the capacitor just acted like another battery. itd only send so much through to the amp instead of over feeding the amp with unneeded power...she started up everytime and I just bumped on out the driveway:)...although the optimas are more expensive but they ARE worth the money

if you have a drain of some type, a new battery will not help fix the problem and will probably be sent to an early death as well.

Whatever man, Everstart batteries are fine, and cold weather won't kill 2 batteries both in less than 4 days.
