optima yellow here. if you need the increased output that an optima red/yellow brings, then go w/ those. what's $80 when it comes to your stang? if you don't have the need, get an el-cheapo batt and spend your "cheddar" elsewhere. i wouldn't get these optimas to be "cool"... who cares, it's a battery. you know what i mean?

Money's not the issue, but a bargain price is a bargain price. Jegs seems to have them about $20 cheaper than the local Advance Auto, so I might order from them.

"Cool"? Hah! At 50 I left cool years ago. Now I'm..."seasoned". Or "weathered".

Thanks--John

I've heard bad things about the optimas from advance... plus all the ones at the local one here has about an inch of dust on them b/c they are so damn $$$. They are going bad b/c they have been sitting for about 5 years lol. But get the red or yellow top and then a trunk mount kit. Trust me, your weight transfer will love you for it.

Also, Don't forget to check at your local costco, They had red and yellow tops, 70 dollars cheaper then any auto store. I know it's costco on the west coast, and i beleive sam's club on the east.

Sam's Club and Costco are 2 different companies. Sam's Club is owned by Wal-Mart. Costo is a seperate company. We have both in my City in So Cal

get the top that looks best with your car. just check the date on the battery so you dont get one that has been there for years. plus shipping and waiting is going to take up that $20 pretty fast.

Yellow tops are definitely better batteries. Deep cycle batteries should be.

On the 4x4 forums I visit, alot of people have complained about Optima's lately. I guess they got bought up by a bigger company. I've had the same batteries since before I went in the Army, so mine are fine, I dunno though.

Old thread but I noticed someone saying that you had to make a tie down for the red tops

Does it not fit in the factory battery holder?

Did anyone have to extend their red positive cables? Mine seems to be too short since the new battery is so much taller. I was going to get a battery clamp and extend the wires so the terminal would reach the battery

The red top I just got sits a lot higher than my original battery did so I can't use it unless I either find a way to lower it or extend the battery cables on the positive side (red)
