ok, when i got my car the ac compressor clutch was locked up so previous owner bypassed the compressor all together. I installed a new compressor, reinstall belt, and now it seems like with a new compressor on, the smog pump delete pulley does not line up with crank pulley. could it have always been mis-aligned and didn't make much difference since ac wasn't used? The only solution i can think of is to grind down the spacer that goes on the smog delete pulley till the pulley lines up with crankshaft. any other or even better suggestions? only other thing i could think of was to shim the bracket that holds the p/s,ac, idler pulley, but then i'd have to do the same with the water pump, alternator. does my logic sound reasonable so far?

I got it figured out. :headbang: I took the spacer off the smog delete pulley, hit it with a grinder lil by lil till I could put the smog delete pulley on and it lined up with crank. works fine now. at first the smog pulley being out to far was pulling the belt off the crank pulley. :violent1:

you can also bypass the smog delete pulley by using a shorter belt and changing the belt routing slightly
