I am in the process of changing head gaskets and had the plugs installed in the back of the heads to eliminate the smog pump. Anybody running this setup and know which belt works for this set up. I still have my a/c on the car as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have had this descussion w Javi before. Take a string and measure the belt route then deduct an inch for the tensioner play. I couldnt get an 89.5 belt on my car, or a 90. The 91 was too big. I had to go 90 inch belt and replace the idler pulley with a pulley the same size as the tensioner pulley. This put the indicator perfectly in the middle on the tensioner and I dont have to worry about my belt being so tight it kills bearings, or being so loose it squeels at startup and when ac is on.

I just ran into that very problem, the 89.5 wont fit, it seems to be a half inch short. Looks like the smog pump goes back on for now until I can find a smaller idler pulley or get a delete kit. Thanks for the diagram Javi, I was just about to ask about that since I haven't been on in a couple days.

if you buy a new pulley for the tentioner, you can replace the tentioner with it. Thats what I did.

Scarface, you mean that you replaced the idler pulley with another tensioner pulley right?

yep, I did that and went to a 90 inch belt. That put me dead in the middle of the tention range on the tentioner.

Not sure but they are different on many, my idler pulley is metal, i've seen a few plastic, maybe different diameters.

Sorry Onyx, I meant thank you for the diagram. I just measured, and the belt misses the alternator pulley by about 3/4 of an inch. Javi, that is the same belt I bought and it is a little short. Funny how the cars cane be different but still run the same stock belt.
