Ok guys I have a leaking HG that I need to replace and I have a few options on what to do and was wondering what your opinions would be. It is leaking antifreeze out the passenger side head but its not mixing with the oil or anything. I can go about doing this a few different ways. Quickest and easiest would be to do the headgaskets and bolt it back together as is. Or I can get the heads worked and throw a bigger cam in there, which will cost me more money and time. I have never installed a camshaft before so this would be a first. My motor is a 331 stroker and it put down 320rwhp with a small cam and stock trickflow heads. I think with the heads worked and bigger cam I can really wake this motor up. So what do you all think?

If you've got the time and money, then work the heads an install the cam. It really depends on your budget

if you're planning on doing that stuff anyway save doing the job again and go ahead and go balls to wall.

Ya I'm leaning towards just going at it. I just don't want to miss the whole summer of driving. I think I can bring up my hp drastically with a better cam.

1.) What cam is in there?

2.) I would just put a new set of head gaskets on and buy a blower.

Problem solved. :angel4:

I would do head gaskets, spend a bit of cash on ARP head studs and go to town on a blower setup...... the stock head bolts are torque to yield, and will stretch at about 13psi manifold press...... letting a head gasket go...

ARP head bolts will work fine as long as he isn't planning on making TONS of power.

Plenty of people have made 400-500HP with ARP head bolts without a problem. :dontknow:

Im gonna do it probably going to pull the motor out and have at it hopefully this won't take ALL summer! I don't think I need to re bearing it. I never had any water in my oil it was dripping out the side of the head not in the oil.

Or just do a custom cam and leave the heads be. If you have the money go for it. If not get it fixed.

Wait... Your mustang has a cam now and you never installed one? Did someone build your current engine? Anyways, It's really easy to do, just be careful sliding it in and make sure EVERY lobe is greased with cam lube. I honestly agree with the others though, just get a new gasket and a blower and call it a day :).

Haha very funny :p. You don't even know how many sexual jokes I was making when I was installing my cam, it's such a greasy and dirty job, and if you don't lube up properly, damage may occur ;).
