I need some help....I have a 98 GT with a stock longblock. The car is my dd for the time being. I bought a Vortech V-2 (10-12psi) and PI intake....so this leads me to my next question. I figured I put a set of cams in the car as well. Would I do stock PI cams, NPI blower cams, or PI blower cams. I do plan on taking the car to MPH or DynoSpeed. Any recommendation on cams would be appreciated...

Do the modularheadshop npi blower cams. I know Crower had some but i don't know if they make them anymore. The stock PI cams are better then the stock NPI but you'd be losing lots of boost compared to blower cams.

DO NOT DO PI CAMS. trust me man, not trying to sound cocky or anything but listen to what i say here. I have been doing cams for my non pi mustang for years now. Everyone told me "yeah yeah do PI cams you'll get 20+rwhp..." b/s. stock PI cams have more lift than non pi cams, and less duration. this is the complete opposite you want. you want a cam with much more duration, while also more life. I just recently installed Crower stage 2 non pi blower cams, and i have talked to atleast 6 race shops who recommended these cams. Unfortunately, I got the last set that crower will ever make of these. I'm sure there are other companies who make non pi blower grinds, but i highly suggest going with a NON PI blower grind cam. Tim over at MPH told me I can expect to pick up 45-55rwhp with just these cams alone

cushman motorsports (the guy from VT Cams) has a bunch of NPI blower cams. I have the Stage 2.5 blower cams and have no complaints.

haha i didnt mean to come off as being cocky, thats why i stated it. i'm just one of the few individuals who unfortunately had to experience this. Everyone always says to just slap in PI cams and be happy. maybe for a N/A motor...YES. but for a centri setup....NO. As said, maybe hit up Cushman and see what he has to offer

Did you get them in and dyno'd yet? Curious of the gain.

They are in, just haven't gotten it dyno'd yet. This whole homeowner thing and having my wife finishing up her masters degree really ties up most of the money that comes in. I was on a waiting list at JPC in MD. with a new diablosport tuner. Then I hear that SCT is the way to go and not to let Justin at JPC do it. That's where I'm at. The car is driveable, just doesn't like WOT. It idles and sounds like a dragster. Maybe this winter..

Thanks...I'm going to call them Friday, you wouldn't know what gains would be expected of stock NPI cams? I'm not looking to make specific number..I figure I could make 330rwhpish with stock cams. This car will be my daily driver for the next 6-8 months so I don't want to spend the extra money of cams if it wont be worth it.

dude you'll make that easy. I had this done: sq trim, power pipe, 3.12 pulley, paxton front mount, PI manifold, full bolt ons, STOCK NON PI HEADS, STOCK NON PI CAMS...and this is THROUGH AN AUTO and i put down 370. I am currently getting my non pi heads worked up with crower stage 2 non pi blower cams with valve springs/retainers and my tuner told me i can expect to be in the mid 400's through my stall'd auto.

That's AWESOME!! I don't know jack about this 4.6 cars..ha I spent my life savings on a 5.0..lol (j/k) I will be buying a powerpipe and one more question...at what psi did you make 370? I will look into the paxton front mount instead of cams i believe. What pulley combination would net me 12psi??

I don't know what belt slippage will be like but, with a 3.0" pulley
and a front mount intercooler you should see 12 psi. at the intake.
You will be pushing the limits of your stock engine so,I'd subjest
you make sure you get a custom dyno tune that is conservative.
You will probably get less belt slippage with a 3.4" or 3.6" pulley
instead and max out your stock longblock too.
When you pulley down make sure you install a front mount intercooler
at the same time. The more psi. you run the hotter the intake charge
will be.You can also run methanol injection witch would aid with the cooling.

Thanks...this supercharger is all new to me. I've been a nitrous guy (I'm still) but I plan on buying the Paxton Intercooler kit. Also, the car will be tuned...that's a guarantee!! I'm bringing the car to MPH for Tim to do a little work. Thanks...also I've bought my buddies 04cobra injectors (39lbs) and the adapters for them to work, That will be sufficient enough for my plan? I'm have a Lightning MAF coming as well.

You should be fine with a 90mm Lightning MAF and 39 or 42 lbs. fuel injectors.
Tim at MPH is one of the best tuners in the United States and he could give
you a "spot on" tune that is conservative.
