Brakes leaking....bad

Well today I was going to drive the car for the first time in a few weeks and I noticed a **** ton of brake fluid all over my garage floor. I looked under the car and it's all coming from the passenger wheel area, it's all wet and leaky on that side and on the back of the wheel. I don't have a jack or anything and am not the best with fixing cars. My question is why all of a sudden after not driving it for a few weeks it starts leaking? Do you think a brake hose or something has a hole in it or could it be something simple? I don't think I should drive it so I am sort of in a dilemma with their being no jack or any tools at this house. Do you think its a bad idea to drive to fix it?

yeah possibly a hose bend out f shape for some reason, changing a hose aint that bad, if thats the problem.

But as far as driving it, im guessing youll be squirting brake fluid all over everytime you press the brakes leading to run out of fluid,but it depends how bad the leak is. so i dont think is safe to drive it

yes... bad idea to drive it.

your car has a dual-piston master brake cylinder. this a saftey procaution so if your brakes fail in the front you have the rear (and vise-versa) anyways, they also set up the brakes so the front is 60% of the braking power. So considering your front brakes are drained of fluid, you are now down to JUST your rears (which are 40% of your braking power.)

if you live AROUND the block from the shop, drive it SLOWLY and downshift as much as possible to slow down. use the brakes as little as possible. this is for AROUND THE BLOCK ONLY! I also suggest using the e-brake as much as possible as well.

if you live far from a shop, tow it.


hell, i take that back. dont drive it. jsut rent a pick up truck from home depot for $20.00 an hour, the rent a car dolly from U-haul for $50.00 a day. $100.00 is worth the safety.

Just got a better look, and the leaks coming from the caliper, I followed the lines and it didnt have any leaks. The caliper is saturated in fluid and so is the back of the wheel. I just replaced calipers,rotors,pads last summer so I don't know what the issue is?

perhaps re-used a crush washer. or accidently losened the banjo bolt? or contaminants got into it somewhere and have worked there way out??

DON'T DRIVE IT!!!!!!

Like Chris said, probably a leak at the crush washer, or you could have overtightened the banjo bolt and it has just now cracked due to the stress.

I would replace both lines, banjo bolts, and crush washers. Make sure the area where the washer sits is clean. If you have dirt under the copper washer it will not seal properly and leak.
