I picked up a excellent condition 2004 gt conv. Has 70k on it. After fixing the top to go up like should ( bad line)..I think it is ready to drive. newer tires on..serpitine looks excellent..no dash lights on..I want to make 3 or 4 trips this summer to a city to visit friend and guessing about 250 miles each trip..there/back/plus extra. Do you think this car will be pretty reliable? I heard the 4.6 had a bad issue with plugs blowing out of hole? But.. I also heard 4.6 is known to get high miles so this plug thing common? I'm almost afraid to drive it far after reading that. I won't be driving hard ever..just cruising and in town trips

Thanks on reply's! good to hear... P.S. I realized after posting this that I put it in wrong place. I re-did it in the 2v engine specific section..I couldn't figure out how to delete post here in this section. Guess glad I didn't because now I have my answer!

i will say this use motor craft plugs use torque spec
you will be fine
if those plugs are factory originals your good and it would have done it a long while back

Problem is, the stock heads only have 4 threads but you should have the revised 8 thread heads. They’re not immune to blowing plugs but they’re less prone to it.

Most of the issues come from the f series and expeditions because the rear plugs are harder to get to so they’re not torqued as well. If you’re concerned, put a torque wrench on every plug and verify they’re at 13 ft lb.

I had a 4.6 truck blow a plug and it broke the inner manifold , a costly repair but a 4.5 is a different horse
