Broke an Exhaust Valve Spring

And . . not just any valve spring. This was a Manley Nextek triple spring (733 lb.). Bout $450 a set.

I broke about a one inch piece right out of the middle. :nonono:

Well . . that's one good thing about triple springs, it's hard to drop a valve out of them. If you break the outer spring, you still have the two inners. :thumb:

i've never even seen a triple spring. all 3 heads i've had on my car had doubles, but my cars not ridiculously fast like yours :crazy2:

My car is only semi-ridiculously fast . . . :bunny3:

I broke it on my 9.28 run last Sunday. I'm thinking maybe I floated the valves.

Tad, I've been using some triple springs that the guys in the Hooters Cup use in their circle-track cars and they've held up great. If I can find the name of the place where you buy them in my records, I'll send it to you. Mine are 775 lbs open if I remember correctly. The circle track guys have said they're able to get an entire season out of 'em, which should mean you should be able to get damn near a lifetime out of 'em. They were somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 if memory serves.

I was going to say you can break anything at any time......you dont have to be drag racing or road ..........SHIT HAPPENS, there is logic behind that saying.
