ok when I bought the car the brace on the tube that bolts to the side of the motor was missing I noticed how loose it was when I last check the oil so I called the local ford dealer to order one, which has back ordered, anyway changed oil in it the other day and when I pulled the dip stick to check the level the tube broke off at the base. I know there is a part of the tube still in the block even though I can't see the hole it goes in anyway has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you get the rest of the tube out?

I had same issue with my V-10 Ford truck. Dipstick tube had holes rusted thru and it cracked right at the bracket. It broke off at the block when I tried to remove it. I ended up using an old fish tape, trimmed the end, and bent into a tight hook. Slid it down into the remainder in the block, found a convenient place to grab it with pliers, and a place to use as leverage, and it popped right out. Lucky for me, tho, the dealer had one in stock.

I never thought about a fish tape and I have pull a few miles of wire with them when I worked at west point stevens finishing plant in clemson "now closed as with most textile plants no bail out for them" I think I got one in the building If what I got planned next dont work I got a 1/4 inch lag bolt scewed into it I have beat it to death and still no joy so I thought I would take some can air like you blow off stuff on the computer with turn it upside down and spray it into the tube to freeze it so it will contract a little and then try to bang it out. I left it soaking in pentrating oil for two days now too

beats me how to get that thing out I have done everything I can think of and have read about on the net it is just welded in there and will not come out and I am not pulling the pan for it. I screwed a 5/16 bolt with a small glob of jb weld on its threads back into the hole to seal it changed the oil and filter. I had about 4500 mile on that oil change and measured back 4 and 1/4 quarts not counting a very small about that didnt make it into the catch pan. since I just replace the front seal when I put the new timing chain on that should have taken care of that leak so I should be good as long as I keep up my oil changes and keep an eye on the oil pressure guage. who needs a dip stick anyway. :laughing4:
