The complexity and tight tolerances do not bother me. The only thing that bother's me is the cam timing. I have built quite a few shortblocks, and longblocks for that matter.

What might end up happeneing is I will build the longblock then have someone either come help or take the engine to a shop to have the cam's adjusted.

I suppose but if you are confidant enough to build the LB, then you should be able to degree your own cams, particularly so if its a 2 valve. Good luck with the project either way....

I tore my engine apart to put PI heads and bullitt intake on and did everything except for assemble the heads and time the cams.. I didnt trust myself with that either, haha. Im sure when you do it and get it right you will be proud you built it. Like Tim Allen said, its not yours unless you built it.

Don't worry its not that bad to assemble a 4.6.
There are write ups and how to's with pics of how to degree 4.6 cams out there.

You can also get engine build books and dvds for visual help. There is that guy on ebay that is always tearing apart engines and documenting it. Maybe invest in something like that.

Find a good machine shop and have them do the honing and boring needed and then put it together slowly and measure away. If you have some tools and can handle basic math it shouldn't be that hard for you.

Believe it or not I have had that video for a while lol. He doesn't go into degreeing cam's but I'm sure I can figure it out.
I got a good book from Barnes and Noble last night on building 4.6/5.4's...

I think I can do it :D
