Some cars seem to like it others dont, i got mine to 14 on standard unleaded, but i reckon 12 degrees is safe for most.

i'm running 12* with 89 octane and no pinging. your harmonic balancer may be off too. they go bad and slip the timing marks, and cause vibrations.

well my harmonic balancer is fairly new so does it just depend on the car?

i never bumped mine due to pining but I just did a intake on my car and found that many of the vaccum lines were in bad shape. Now the pinging is gone so I'm going to bump it up a lil. might check that and see if u find something, other than that sounds like u did it right. Some cars are different then others.

My 95' loved 13* timing!! I could tell a nice difference from 10*. But I also fed my car 93 octane too.

every car is different.... my old 93 love 18* base on 91 and once i put race fuel in and could run as much as 23 base in it.... it ran a 13.2 with just gears intake and exhaust.... and my 89 loved 11* base.... my current 95 when stock liked 11* base.... now the current engine when i went and had it tuned made the most power at 29* total we had to set the base at 0 so we could get it tuned correctly....
