Thinking about getting a cam for my car. Eventually I'll be running TFS heads, and 1.6 RR. The car is mainly used for transportation purposes, and see about 23k miles a years. I take it road racing 6 to 7 times a year, so strong midrange and somewhat capable top end power is an absolute must. I've searched a few things, but could not really find exact answer I was looking for.

I know for a fact that the e303 has a sticker and you could get a steeda #19 but no sticker but similar to the e303 in terms of specs.

Crane 2031 is CARB friendly.

Also, I think the TFS Stage 1 is emissions legal also. Both very good cams - proven power makers that are carb legal.

Looks like for Crane Cam 2031, you need to use 1.7 RR, which I really don't want to do. I've also heard that you can not run more than .500 inches of lift on stock bottom car. There is also Crane Cam 2040, but it's an exact same cam as the E303. No difference at all for the specs.

TFS stage 1 cam would probably pass the sniffer, but I could not find a C.A.R.B number for it, so I'm assuming that there isn't any.

Yes, the 2031 does use 1.7's.

As far as lift vs. bottom end.

I used the Crane 2031 on a stock bottom end. Lift is nothing to be worried about unless you are running more than 230 duration - then it becomes a factor.

What you want to watch for is duration.

I don't see why you HAVE to run 1.7s with the 2031, that's just what they show the specs with. Either way it's not a very aggressive cam.
