so today i got to changing my pads, without issue, got new rear calipers cause the driver side was completely seized, wouldnt compress. So i just reaplaced both rear ones for good measure. You know those pins that slide in and out that go from the caliper to the bracket? one of these bitches is basically stuck in the hole. Ive tried everything, taken a propane torch to it, setting it in PB blaster to soak and ive tried beating the shit out of it with no luck. Im going to take this thing to firestone and see if they can get it free since they deal with brakes alot more than i do. But m question is, can you just buy replacement bracekts? im afraid that this pin is somehow fused to the inside of this bracket and if so the thing is wasted. please HELP! :TY:

I've always seen the brackets come with the rebuilt calipers. I just did a little search for ya on napaonline and they do sell just the bracket http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPag...1706&Description=Brake+Caliper+Bracket+-+Rear

Eh, the front brakes are what really stop you anyway. You should be fine. If it was that goobered you've probably been without that brake for a bit anyway.

yeah this is true, i know the thing has been dragging for at least 2 weeks, cause theres a shitload of brake dust on that one side and today when i got home and started to change them, i felt the other rotors/calipers, they were warm to the touch, but the one that is stuck was hotter than hell. my whole wheel was warm to.

yeah so i got the bracket, it looks a little different but everything fits dead on. the rotor is a bit warped, i dunno if i can have it turned or not since they are drilled and slotted. anyone ever done that before?

Get yourself to a JY and pull an OEM bracket off a 94-04 car. I think they're all the same as far as the GTs go, not sure about the V6s.

And if the rotor is warped and it already got scraped you'll probably want a new rotor as well. The last thing you want is for the scraped area to heat up and crack on you while you're braking.

yeah.....i just took my old bracket to this marine machine shop, so if they cannot at lest drill this damn pin out for me, which they said they could then i dunno what im gonna do. cause from what im reading, the cobra brackets are completly unique to the cobras cause the rotors are slightly wider so IDK i just bought new calipers and they didnt have the brackets so i dont want to have to go through the process of getting the ones from ford that come with the brackets. PISS

Hmmm well that's good to know about the cobra brackets being different... Yeah I was thinking that a good machine shop should be able to do SOMETHING to get that pin out of there Even if they have to drill straight through and then weld it back up on the one side.

yeah apparantly cobra rotors are like 1/16 wider, or some bs like that i just called napa and told them about that and they said there is no difference in their computer system. I wont get the thing back till monday though so im stuck without my car this weekend which SUCKS cause its the first weekend weve had here without rain and coldness.

You really can't trust the chain stores' computer databases. I once ordered a front main seal for my SHO taurus and when it cam in it was some random assed rubber o-ring. You can't really blame their computers for being off sometimes though with the inventory they have. Like I said, any competent machine shop is gonna be able to do something to get that pin out.
