Get Ready to open your wallet. You can pick up a set of FR500 cams or just redegree you cams and have a good time.

Comp Cams 106100 106400. The '100s won't need stiffer springs, the stock ones will work but as for the '400s, those will need stiffer springs. If you're going to do this make sure and degree the cams so you can get the full hp/tq increase of the cam swap. Set to 108* intake, 114* exhaust.

Also, you won't see the full benefit of cams if you don't have headers, preferably longtubes and o/r X or H pipe.

If he goes with comp cams he can get them through RPM Outlet, they have them for a little under $1K last time I checked.

do not buy from rpm outlet- there's a reason they're so cheap. OP- your goals/budget should determine the answer to this. and are you going to be doing the swap yourself?

^^^I would do gears before cams, best bang for the buck. No less than 4.10s on these B-head motors...I have 4.10s and almost feel I should have gone with 4.30s, I was afraid the 4.10s would be too much for highway cruising but they aren't bad.

Another mod to do before cams that will give you good gains throughout the entire rpm band is to get your intake made into a shortrunner. I have a shortrunner on my car and I certainly felt the difference.
