250 RWHP

You're choking the sh!t out of that motor. I would drop the gears to a 3.55 too.

If you change these, you'll see an extra 100 RWHP, easy. What is the compression of the engine?

I have to agree... you arent going to make shit for power with those 302 parts.

Heads are way to small, Cobra intake belongs on a 302. Mines a mild 351 with 9:0:1 compression and I probably easily make over 100 more HP then that set up.

Do you want 450 to the wheels or at the crank? Either way to get that number at the crank or wheels your going to need to stroke the 351 to something like a 393 or 408. Mine makes 400 at the crank now, to pull 50 more HP at the engine Id have to stroke it as well or raise the compression with different pistons but if your going to do that might as well stroke it while your in there.

Lets just say your looking for 450 to the wheels. Just as an idea you would want something such as a 408 stroker, custom grind cam shaft, Trickflow R intake for the 351 or the Victor 5.8 and heads would have to be no less then 205cc either AFR or Trickflow's

I know you bought the car like this so dont take this as ragging on YOU but people think that just b/c a bigger engine is dropped in that it will make more power...well not the case especially when your putting sub par 302 parts on a 351 windsor. Say for example you have two guys that are going to have some go time, one guy is much bigger then the other so you think he would win correct? well if he had a midget strapped to his back choking him out at the same time getting no air flow then he probably could not fight so well huh? Same thing as putting 302 parts on a 351, it cant breath.

well if you want that number to the wheels you need to stroke it to a 393 or a 408, get a custom cam, long tubes and at least 205cc heads and you should be well on your way.

lol @ the midget choking the guy

with your 351 you could do a real HCI and pick up great numbers. Like previously said, there's not enough air going into that big engine.

Even staying with a 351 and not stroking it, you can raise those numbers big time.

Just remember HEADS ARE EVERYTHING!
HEADS NEED LOTS OF AIR! (good intake aswell)
~14 particles of air for one particle of fuel

Compression also matters a bit:
Low compression= good for turbo and supercharged engines(~8.5)
High compression= good for Naturally aspirated (9.5+)

thinner headgaskets and milling heads raise compression
thicker headgaskets lower compression

So is the big guy choking his midget or is the midget choking his big guy?

Those heads are bs. i wouldnt run them on a 302 much less a 351. get a better set of heads, better intake. And you dont have to stroke the 351 to make over 400 at the wheels, ever heard of boost?

Hair dryer, blower or giggle gas will all get you over the 400hp goal with a good base engine. there are stock bottom end 302s making 500+ hp all over the place. They are on borrowed time, but still making the power.

That old antage, no replacement for displacement, I've got a 10# bottle of displacement replacement in the trunk.

You want the intake tract to be excellent as well.

The deal is the flow of the overall intake "tract" and not just the heads. When people use a huge head like the AFR205/225 or High Port but then bolt up a TFS 351 intake on their 351 engine they are now wasting their time talking about big flow numbers since the overall intake *tract* has been limited by their intake choice.

For example..lets say he did an AFR 205 head and a Trick Flow 351 intake. I would do an EFI Victor Jr (carb style) and the best 90 degree elbow you can find and guess what? The overall flow from throttle body to intake valve is better than the AFR 205 heads and a TFS intake.

its very easy to hit 450 with boost but since the OP did not list that as an option it seems as though he wants it N/A.

You can raise the compression w/ better pistons if you didnt want to do a full stroker kit, wont get you a full 450 but it will be close. A 408 with a solid H/C/I set up will hit 450. Ive spoken w/ rick at RNH a few times about 408's and hes had some built w/ the same set up I wanted to use..205cc Heads, TFSR intake, custom cam and they were hitting north of 450 w/ more tuning to do.

enough to still be on pump gas. These were the RNH stroker engines but if you stroke a 351 to the came CID I dont see why there would be any difference. A stroked 408 with at lest 205cc heads, good flowing intake, long tubes and custom cam should see anywhere from 430-450+
