I thought i could save some cash and buy a radiator off the corral for $50. I get the radiator today and im pretty sure its for an automatic. It has 2 metal holes with threads in it that my old radiator didnt have. Can i plug those up or am i wasting my time?

Any suggestions on what to use to plug them up? I just filled the radiator up with water and no water came out of the holes? I guess im confused on how they actually work.

You can plig them up or not. I'm not sure what would happen if you didn't plug them up if anything could get inside there and possibly rust through. The threaded holes are just for the tranny fluid to flow through to help cool the fluid.

They are for an automatic transmission cooler. It is a cylinder inside the side of the radiator that cools tranny fluid. block them off, or leave them alone. It doesn't matter, that portion is sealed from the rest.

Plug them up in case there is any left over trans fluid in there, you won't want to have that drip on anything. Sealing them up will keep the condensation out as well. If enough water pools in there it could crack the radiator if you are in cold weather. It's not very possible on a daily driven car because the water will evaporate once it gets hot, but it could happen if your car sits a lot like mine does. Better to be safe and spend the $1 or less on some plastic plugs.

Fill 'em up with silicone. I believe auto and standard radiators are the same.
