2004 gt. Friend noticed K&N air filter..And underneith 2 long flex braces?..

I bought this 04 gt about 2 months ago. other day friend was looking at it and seen it has a K&N air filtering system and also 2 braces on underside running length way and thought might be for flexing? Is this a common upgrade or just way it came from factory? Quite sure not the K&N system but not sure on flex braces. As far as I can tell the 4.6 is stock. I can't do pics- sorry..but see if 23 yo grandson can when I see him.

From your description I'm assuming you mean subframe connectors - it's a really common modification people perform. I'm from the school of thought that not every modification is an upgrade at all, or equally an upgrade for everyone who does it.

Here is an example picture of subframe connectors in GREEN, there are many different brands and they all look somewhat different from each other but this picture makes it easy to see them. Some of them also bolt to the floor where the rear of the driver & passenger seats are mounted.



The K&N filter thing is also a pretty common modification people install because they think it might give them a little horsepower; for the most part it's wishful thinking and serves more as a bit of jewelry under the hood than anything you'll actually feel while driving.
It's probably not doing any harm if it was installed with care.

those are sub frame connectors made to stiffen up the unibody. Anyone I ever heard said to get the weld in version rather than the bold in you have. I have weld in and I can jack one side of the car at at time by putting the jack under the seat.
