can you tell what kind of cam a car has just by hearing it?

with the number of cams out there, custom grind included. ... i doubt anyone could ever be 100% on it...

I'd say no cause even the same cam can sound different in two different cars.

But all that said. You can tell the difference between a stock cam and a aftermarket cam.

By the way the engine lopes. Somebody fairly new into the car thing most likely would not have an ear for it yet.

in all seriousness though, it more than likely has a ford racing cam like what was said above. The E303 and B303 are very popular choices.

Would it be very likely that a car would have just a different cam in it? My engine looks completely stock but it doesn't idle completely steady. It runs fine and all. Sorry to threadjack, but he may be wonderin the same thing.
