Any time my car is under load at low RPM's (0-2300) it bucks like crazy. When I "get on it" it feels jittery all the way through the RPM range, and accelerates a lot slower. Even in 5th (man.) at 55, if I go past 1/4 throttle for passing, it bucks. There are 3 red, tiny, vacuum lines over the intake manifold that are broken which I'm working on repairing. I was told that is likely the problem, but I'm not sure. Do you guys think that's what's causing the problem? If not, any ideas? Let me know if you guys need pics.

pics would be nice. but those red vacuum lines, im assuming one of them goes to the fuel pressure regulator, right? if so, then yes, i agree, that might be your problem

If those don't fix the problem then you might have bad wires. When your spark plug wire go bad it causes the spark to jump from one wire to another. I have a really nice expensive set of wires on my car when I bought it. After a few years I had the problem you're having and found out it was my wires. I've also had to replace the red vacuum wires you were talking about. You can usually find them cheap and in good condition at a junkyard if you are pressed for cash.

more than likely its the vacuum lines. if that doesnt fix it its gonna be a fouled out plug or 2. or a bad wire, or 2. im willing to bet its the vacuum lines tho bro :thumb:

bluesn95-I went to a ford dealer and they said it was a "improvised part," meaning you can't buy them, you have to improvise your own repair. I'm going tomorrow to check a junk yard to see if I can find any (along with a couple other things I need).
southern-I hope so..if not, can I send the bill to you for whatever it is? :dunno: :)

I threw a CEL today, so I had it checked and there was a cylinder 8 misfire. I bought some plugs, came home, went to put them in and found that a couple of the drives side spark plug holes are full of coolant. It looks like it's leaking out of the intake manifold, but I'm not sure. I didn't really get to look, as it was getting dark and I am garage-less. If I find that that's why it's full of coolant, I'm going to go on and do the PI cam/intake swap. There is a lot of leaks going on right now and I'm just going to knock it all out at once and get some ponies in the process.

some of the drivers side plugs were full of coolant? odd, usually its the passanger side ones. anyways, i have no idea where it would leak from on the drivers side. maybe the intake gaskets broke and thats why you are leaking. to my knowdlege, coolant doesnt flow anywhere else on the drivers side, not close to the #8 plug anyways. maybe it leaked at the crossover/t-stat housing and it ran down and filled up the plugs on that side.

do you have the all-plastic manifold?

It must have slowly leaked to it, and over time filled it up. I have the NPI all plastic intake manifold.

I going to replace the intake manifold. If anyone has a PI intake w/ aluminum crossover they want to sell, let me know. Give me a price, pic, and all that jazz.

funny you say that, me too. After feeling like I tore my car in half swapping a PI intake when my old NPI/plastic one died, I realized I can do just about anything on my car.
