k soo its done this a few times in the past but tonight it isn't budging.

its about 35 degrees outside right now so its pretty chilly. im leaving to go to my girlfriends for the night because she works right next door to our work and we have to be there at 7 so im going to stay there for the night. well i hop in my car and it starts up and immediately dies. so ive dealt with this before so i crank it up, give it some gas and hold it for about 20 seconds.. well normally its like my car is on, but my engine is not and after like 20 seconds of my car being on and me holding the gas, the car is like OH and then revs up the amount that im pressing the gas in and then all is fine, idles and does everything fine. well tonight, i sit outside for about 5 minutes holding the gas down and it never settles down. i drive it down the street and it dies when i left off the gas. so i come back and i have the battery charging now. i dont know if its my battery though... i can listen to my stereo, car on or car off, lights are on.. it all seems fine, the car just wont idle.

so does anyone know what is wrong?? id like to get this fixed.

on a side note, im going to pic up the new engine tomorrow! :thumb:

and dont say a fix to this is swappin the motor, i still kinda want to know what the problem is because the motor wont be going in for a few weeks i imagine.

If your car starts, to where your alternator is spinning you can pull the battery out of the car completely and it will run. So as long as it starts it is not the battery. I doubt it is your alternator, because if it were bad your battery would have taken on the load and it too would be on its way out and eventually not start or run your car at all.

Like others were saying sounds like fuel issue or some kind of sensor. Sounds like you have the usuals covered. I don't know much of anything about the 4.6 but.... maybe TPS? Might wanna check that one out. You did not mention CEL so I guess there is none of those, which is odd.

i figured it was idle or throttle sensor as well because i can listen to radio, start the car, and all that... it just wont stay running... so i thought it was the something to do with idle sensor or throttle sensor.

i honestly dont know though. its 545 and i have to be at work in an hour and fifteen minutes. im gonna go outside n ow and see if the battery is fully charged even thought i dont think thats the problem and im gonna see if she'll start up for me.

I would lean towards the TPS senor also. I had one go bad on my old fox race car, and it sounds just like you are having the same problem it had. Hope that helps.

yeah. i told my buddy at autozone, well not really my buddy but i talk to him everytime i go in there and hes like, no its not the TPS, its probably your IAC. which i also thought was a valid culprit, so i didn't get the TPS because i didn't think it was it anymore. nobody had the IAC valve in stock around my area, so me and the dad went outside, tested both pieces, IAC was good, TPS was bad. went and got that badboy in my moms bada** civic with a big roxy sticker on it, pulled up, bought it, came out, slapped that badboy on and VROOM!

car sounds healthy. new spark plugs are gonna go in today, been a while. and we may do the compression test if i have time. Daytona 500 today boys. boogity boogity boogity!
