i was thinking of changing my radio bezel in my 96 gt to the 99-04 bezel to put in a double din in my car, and as i was searching it crossed my mind to wonder if the armrest/center console piece from the 99-04 mustang will fit in my 96 gt also? i like the look of the 99-04 mustangs cause of how the cup holder isnt hidden in the armrest area and gives me another spot to put my change and other things...so my ? is will the 99-04 center console/armrest/shifter area fit in a 96 mustang gt without/or with minor modifications to it..thanks

i know both of these have been covered at least a few times on here. The center console will fit but if you have a black interior it'll need to be painted to match. The double din thing wont work without customization to the dash.

you have to trim a small are of the dash(where the screws mount under the radio) to get the double din to fit but it is not a major surgery. Make sure you get the lower shifter bezel as well as it is different and will not mate up to the new one.

As for the rest of the consol Idunno........

Dutch that looks sick, did you paint yours black to match the stock interior? If so how's the match and what did you do? I'd like to do that this winter/spring.

99-00 had the same center console as 98's.

01-04 had the redesigned consoles

correct, didn't the 98-00 have the two cup holders up by the shifter, like in the ashtray area?

I'd love to go with the '01+ center console in my '94 but I have all my nitrous controls hidden in the ashtray area. I like my stuff hidden and I don't think I could do that with the newer one.

am I the only one that is either skinny enough to do it, or has noticed that you can slide a can/bottle/cup down in the crevice by the seat belt and consol and have no problems with it spilling at all?

I have an 03 cobra center console on it's way. Just need to paint it and throw it in. I wanted the 2 cup holders and leather e-boot.

I will be swapping into the newer style dash/console. I am just wondering if anyone knows how or has a write-up on how to rewire the defrost switch, traction control, and fogs? I have the defrost in the gauge bezel but i want to move it down, i even have some wiring diagrams but they arent very good and i'm wondering should i tap/splice or cut/solder?
