I've had my GT for sale for quite some time and haven't been on Mustang forums in a long while. If i were to have a shop yank my tranny and engine out, what would be the cheapest / daily driver friendly / strong "new engine replacement?

I'm sorta saving for a Focus ST or Focus Electric and was just curious were I stood on this.

if your car is a 96-98 2 valve gt, you could always swap in a used factory 99-04 Pi gt motor in your car, alot of guys do this swap for the added horsepower.

What? Are you asking what motor you could put in your car to be more gas efficient/gas savings? That would be counter-intuitive since you'd spend a bunch of money on paying someone to do a custom swap.

Nah just wondering what engine options are he cheapest. New!! Engine options of course. So a 99-04 brand new is the cheapest or would dropping in a 5.0 create motor be cheaper?

Assuming you are talking about a 5.0 pushrod motor you have to swap the k member as well as get a complety new computer and wiring harness. Just get a p.i. Motor

go to the strap yard and yank one from an old taxi cab/Lincoln/vic and call it a day. That is the cheapest.

I dont understand what your trying to accomplish.

Not debating used or junk yard motors for reliability purposes. If someone were to do a complete overhaul of the NPI motor, would it still have the flaws of the stock NPI. Such things at the torq curve issue around 3,500 rpm's etc or would it turn out better than buying a new PI motor brand new?

This question has been beaten to death inside and out harder then Tila Tequila..

ok bro, theirs only two routes you can go and far as fuel efficiency neither of the routes really will give you a pro or con.

1. complete (99/04) Motor (pi) From intake to pan. This is a effortless swap and can reuse all of your existing engine components with just a few minor things done. and can even use your existing transmission with the right things done.

2. Your overhaul option.. If you were to take your existing bottom end and add pi heads/cams/intake and go down the highway and throw your npi stuff out the window you will see night to day hp/tq gains. Theirs kits available from multiple companys. the best benefit is that you get a higher compression ratio doing this which Yields more power. However this will also require premium fuel unless tuned not to run at its most efficient state.

but if gas mileage is your concern then look into green modding, just doing intake/exhaust mods. keeping your current low gears to keep highway rpms down. look into computer tuning to add mpgs based off fuel curves and whatnot. the routes are endless. i hope this helps
