I recently installed a magnaflow kit on my car about 2 weeks ago. the kit was a used kit. As i got everything put on i notice the tips were discolored. When i say that they look like they have a brownish flim on them. I have tried NEVER DULL to bring it back, I have used hot water and dawn soap, used wd40 to get other crude off of it. and the discolor is still there. they only thing i can see is to used 0000 steel wool on the tips but they are polished and i do not have any sort of metal buffer for them.

any suggestions?

Oh yea he still has it. I'm in the process of copying him..

As far as the OP if its on the tips I would suggest different levels of steel wool and some cleaner. If its the piping itsself I would go with a flapper wheel and wet sand paper. In order to get what is above on the Mystic your piping must be stainless steel. After that various levels of sand paper will give it the polishing look.

I have never had a set of stainless tips that didn't look like new after this simple cleaning. SOS pad followed by 00 steel wool both using hot water and finished off with some stainless polish after all contaminants are gone

here is what my exhaust tip looks like. it looks like to me that the tip has something either burnt on the tip on the tip got really warm and started to discolor. it looks like the same discoloring in the other polishing tips your guys have posted. im wondering if the polishing will take the burnt/ discoloration out. and thoughts

I really doubt the tips get hot enough to be "blueing" like headers and motorcycle pipes.
It's most likely exaust residue or other road grime. Pick up some metal polish (I use Flitz) and #0000 steelwool. if that won't take it off then you'll have to use the sandpaper method starting at 1000 grit and working up to 2000. then polish and wool them.
Neverdull isn't really abrasive enough for stainless but it's great for softer metals like alumnium and brass.

Well i contacted Magnaflow and told them my issue. they told me that it from their polish over the years from heat and sun light that turns the pipes to the golden brown. the told me to use some EAGLE ONE CHROME AND MAG CLEANER. and it worked! i read the ingredents on the back of the bottle. it is basically acids and cleaners that eat the polishing compound and grime. i washed the tips and pipes after and polished the pipes. they look pretty darn good. im going to be doing the sanding method with the exhaust piping though coming up here soon.

thanks for the comments and suggestions
