Easiest thing to do. Remove it using basic hand tools, spray the holes with Carb Cleaner. Let it dry. Put it back on and good to go. Can't be more specific since mines a 4V motor. I would make a restrictor plate if I were you, I used a 9/32 drill bit. Google it and you will find tons of info.

Why would you use wd-40 when carb cleaner is so damn cheap?

I've never tried that and wouldn't as I also believe it would leave a little residue that might just stop it from working after a few days. Just use carb cleaner, its useful for many other things as well such as mouthwash ;)

ford service manual states you can not clean the IAC, just sayin'....

anyways, heres your IAC....

simply unplug it, remove the two mounting screws, and replace it.

you can get a gasket from ford for a few cents...

Oh wait the OP has a 4v??

Shoot my bad, if I would have known I would have been more accurate.

Regardless if the manual says you can't, you still can lol. I did it and it got rid of all the gunk, coupled with a restrictor plate it works flawlessly.
