Besides a big a$$ pair of vice grips or channel locks, is there any other substitute for a "clutch coupling tool" to bleed the master cylinder line on a 96 Explorer? :dontknow: Granted the mother-in-law ran the damn master cylinder dry :violent1: but come on FORD, can you make life more difficult?? :angry4:

More like a PITFA. Anyway is it a push in to pop it off kind of thing? The stupid little tool doesn't allow you to get any leverage so I'm guessing that there has to be some kind of trick to it. Or your rust theory could be applicable too

works kinda like a backwards quick disconnect on a air hose. Instead of the outside sleeve sliding back to release, the sleeve is on the inside.

Its always a royal PITA to get the air out. My 2002 Ranger had the slave go at 65k. I could never get the air out no matter how I did until I bought the vacuum tool.

Will any vacuum pump work or do they make a specific model for the tranny??
