Just got a 97 cobra with some work done on it from a buddy of mine. Use to drive a 04 S80 Volvo, little different and all the excitement of having the car caused the problem lol...

Wanted to make a little smoke out of the tires and everything was going great, grand and wonderful. Havent driven a fast car in a while, banged it into 2nd for a second then let off it. Then problems.

When the car is in neutral, it's still "in gear" and by that I mean I can give it gas and it will move. When the car is at a stop, i can put it in any gear, but when I try and drive, it will go in only 1st and 2nd. Heres where the real fun begins. 1st gear is fine. 2nd gear not so much. When I go to shift to 2nd it goes into gear waaaay easy, and it feels like it's still in 1st. Also, it will not go in any other gear while driving.

I'm thinking I bent the clutch fork.... suggestions/comments and if that sounds right, anyone know where a tutorial is posted it's been a while since I've turned a wrench.

could be a bent shift fork, but it sounds like it has something to do with the clutch engaging rather than something internal. how does the pedal feel, does it feel lighter or heavier? more play in it than normal?

well there was alot of play in the clutch pedal, the motors been rebuilt and it has a cable clutch. Tightened the play in it and it still does it. It's a stage 3 clutch and havent smoked it so i was assuming it was the shift fork so....
