hey guys so the stang took a sh!t. it seems lately its always one issue after another but thats the fun of owning an older car. anyways i was driving to work and noticed a pretty noticeable squeaking noise when the clutch is disengaged and when i would engage the clutch or put it into gear it would stop. after i got off work i started driving down the road and thats when my clutch went out or cable snapped. i couldn't press down the clutch to get it into gear. right before this one of my co workers rolled up next to me and said he could see a bunch of sparks flying out beneath my car. bought the car almost two years ago and the clutch has always been pretty stiff. guy i bought it from said the clutch has been changed so i thought it was stiff because of an aftermarket clutch. (if it actually did have one) but ive never had a single problem with it going into gear or shifting. you guys have any thoughts on this? not no mechanic but im gonna jack it up tomorrow and take a look underneath. thanks.

Throwout bearing is shot. Get a Ford factory one to replace it.

Very common problem and that's exactly how it sounds and acts.

lol thats for sure. thanks for the input man..cheap but timely fix so ill start with that. but would that cause all the sparks that were going off underneath the car?

I would like to point out, this could have started as a throwout bearing going bad, but the clutch fork could have also dropped, which would cause sparking, and an insanely hard pedal.

The pivot ball is a wear item on these cars.
