clutchless shifting

my shift point at just casual driving is around 3000-3300 depending on whos in the car and whos around me and the situation etc etc.

i get in a parking lot today and babied it and tried to get it out of first and into second. i DID NOT force anything because it felt like i was about to grind the gears trying to get it out of first and into neutral. so i just let it be. i never forced it out, and i never grinded any gears. just a little experament.

How to shift without the clutch (clutchless shifting)

watch this guy. he does it very well. makes it look easy

Once you master it in a Big Truck it becomes extremely easy in a pedestrian vehicle, but so was driving overall I guess. My 10-SP Freight-liner Dump was cake and after driving that for 10-12 hours jumping into the Mustang was like a toy car.

let me start by saying I didn't read all the posts, but yeah you can it, matching the rpms is a big part of it, but you can actually rev the engine and apply light pressure stick and when the rpms match up it will pop into gear, typically with no grinding haha I do not recommend this to anyone...

The guy in that video is either pretty good or it's not that difficult, but he sure made it look cake.

My thoughts exactly, my friend just got a vette and he brings it to 3k and it seems excessive, but he's still getting half way decent gas mileage so who knows.

well ive always gotta keep my rpms somewhere above 2000 or else all i get is wobble wobble wobble!

the previous owner said he always shifted there and would cruise at about 2300 rpms in 3rd.

i still get about 18mpg doing that.

just tried clutchless shifting... and it was fairly easy.

i was surprised of how little effort it took to slid it into neutral. but it takes FOREVERR to let the rpms drop. like 3 seconds is how long i sit in neutral before the rpms drop so i can shift into the next gear.

it was cool. but i definitely didnt feel comfortable doing it. so i wont do it unless i need to.

one question: what is actually taking place in the tranny when you hear the gears grind?

My car won't let me shift unless my gas pedal is flat on the floor and above 6k. I think it's called "skip-shift".

one more thing. is 3rd gear different than shifting in first and second? it seemed kinda finiky when i tried clutchless shifting into it.
