Okay so I looked at my car yesterday after I washed it and although the car is coming along! when I was drying off the wheels I saw this! I almost threw up  I dont know why this did not bother me sooner, maybe because we dont look at thing's that people dont really see or look at when they compliment your car...

If some of you are wondering what upset me, it was not lugnuts, the lack of powerslot rotors, or the sweet anthricite fr500's :tongue3: it's that nasty looking PBR Cobra Caliper that was painted red to what I'm guessing was 1996 when the car was new! I mean I dont know why I didn't take care of that sooner! :confused1: well I immediately made my way to the part's store and headed to the paint aisle where I saw the caliper paint! I was very upset to see that only had 1 can of red caliper paint :angry4: easy fix! engine paint is the same exact ceramic coated, temp resistant formula! even better I picked up some Chrysler red which is a brighter more vibrant red than red caliper paint.

I know! i'm limited on supplies and used an old clean towel to guard my Tokico adj strut and Steeda spring and besides I was painting this in sections so I wouldn't mess anything up so the side that was resting on the towel got sprayed 3 hours later. Below is the finished product completely assembled with a freshly painted caliper and caliper bracket and the wheel re-installed, once the paint cures a few days I will be painting the cobra letters by hand either silver or black! I haven't decided. My car is a daily :BangHead: so this means that it will not be done until Wednesday which is 3 days from now :angy: but she should look awesome in 3-4 more days :la:

There was paint missing/chipped in a few spots, and when they were painted they were obviously done with the brush type caliper paint! and whoever did it, left paint missing between the COBRA letter's, which looked horrible! you can see it in the picture if you look close enough! also the paint doesnt look as good after God only know's how many years! and the caliper bracket which was not painted looked like exactly like what it is!!! A 14-15 year old caliper bracket! call me anal, but I wasn't pleased with how it looked! I cant wait till all four corners are done...

I would have used some sand paper to remove the paint off the 'Cobra' letters so the letter look silver.

He said he was gonna paint the letter silver.... I have seen that done and it always looks like Poop.

Red scuffing pad does a great job and gives the cobra letters a machined look. Thats what i used.

X2. After my caliper paint had dried, I just hit the letters with an angle grinder with a scotch-brite disc real fast, looks good. Although
I have the other style of Cobra calipers, with the raised lettering, instead of the boxed lettering.

They weren't terrible to start with, but looks good now. Paint the COBRA letters black or slilver or something not red

Cobra Caliper(s) before and after!

you should have hung the caliper on a coat hanger. that's how I painted mine. just makes it easier to have one balanced coat vs. just layering it on the top and then trying to blend the top to bottom. My Roush PBR calipers have a raised Roush embossed logo. What I did is just used a piece of paper and Exact-o knife to cover the lettering after I shot the coats of primer.then shot the red. let it dry, then covered the red and shot the lettering with white. let that dry, then gave it a couple of coats of clear and now I have a perfect finish.

I used a Dremel with a sand paper attachment to remove the paint on the Cobra lettering...

I tried to paint my calipers bronze but they came out candy apple red/burnt orange lol...

the way they used to look looks mint compared to the way mine look... hell, one of my passenger side caliper's bracket bolts backed out on me one day, and the caliper fell onto the rotor and started smacking the wheel spokes. Needless to say, there's a nice worn-down part on the back edge of the caliper now. Luckily though, it didn't manage to do any functional damage to the caliper, rotor, or wheel.
